Right before I went to get help, I google-searched “how to know if I have an eating disorder”. Google gave me a quiz to complete and my score on this quiz was going to tell me whether I did or not. I got halfway through the quiz before I decided to stop – I did not need to see my mark, the fact that I had searched “how to know if I have an eating disorder” was enough for me to realise that I needed help.

Now, think and be honest about it.

Do you restrict food groups like carbs or fats? Or use diet pills? Or intentionally skip meals and/or fast? Or binge on food? Or use steroids and creatine? Then you might be struggling with Disordered Eating. Read about it here.

Are you obsessed with healthy or “clean” eating? If so, you might be struggling with Orthorexia. Read about it here.

Are you restricting what you eat in any way? Maybe you are exercising a lot too. Regardless of the latter, you might be struggling with Anorexia Nervosa. Read about it here.

Do you eat a large amount of food and then feel the need to compensate by, for example, fasting/skipping meals, doing lots of exercise, using laxatives, and/or making yourself vomit? If so, you might be struggling with Bulimia Nervosa. Read about it here.

Do you ever eat a large amount of food, over a short period of time, to the point where you feel uncomfortably full? And maybe you feel out of control, guilty, sad, and/or angry whilst doing it. If so, you might be struggling with Binge Eating Disorder. Read about it here.

Are you a really picky eater, to the point where you might not be getting enough nutrients? You may be struggling with Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake. Read about it here.
